Carriageway Surface Dressing Works

The start date for carriageway surface dressing works in Telford & Wrekin this year will be 27th May 2017. This work will take place across multiple sites around the Borough. These works are expected to be completed by the end of May. A list of sites for this project in your area has been listed below.

o   B4373 Finger Road

o   B4373 Springhill Road

o   B4373 Southall Road

Before the work starts, information boards will be put up in all of the locations and residents will be informed to ensure that disruption will be kept to a minimum, however short term localised road closures may be required for some of the works. This will be localised to areas where it would be impossible to accommodate traffic passing the works. Diversions for these closures will be signed on site.

The majority of the works will be facilitated by the use of stop and go boards or temporary traffic lights.

Works on each site should last for no more than one day.

Further information will be made available once a full programme has been agreed. This will be made available for the public via the council website.

The Principal Contractor for this work will be Telford & Wrekin Services.

I am the Lead Officer for this programme and will be responsible for the works throughout. My contact details can be found below should you have any questions relating to the work.

Please Note

Dawley Hamlets Parish Council is NOT the Planning Authority; this is the function of The Borough Council. The view of the Parish Council does not carry any extra weight (over and above any other resident) nor is it guaranteed to be taken into account when any decision is made by the Borough Council. The Parish Council is simply invited, by the Borough Council, to give its views on planning applications. If a planning application affects you, or you have a view which you wish to be taken into consideration by the Planning Officers of the Borough Council then it is important that you convey that opinion directly to the relevant authority (which is Telford and Wrekin Council). The Parish Council is unable to “pass on” the views of others to the Planning Authority but it may take into account the views of residents of the Parish when deciding upon its own position on any particular application.

The Annual Parish or Town Meeting is not a Parish Council meeting. It is a meeting of the parish or town electors and could involve local organisations such as the Women’s Institute and the drama group. Strictly speaking electors can set the agenda, and in practice these meetings often celebrate local activities and debate current issues in the community. The chairman of the Parish Council calls the Annual Parish or Town Meeting and, if present, will chair it.

PARISH MEETING

A parish meeting, in England, is a meeting to which all the electors in a civil parish are entitled to attend. In some cases, where a parish or group of parishes has fewer than 200 electors, the parish meeting can take on the role of the parish council itself, with statutory powers, and electing a chairman and clerk to act on the meeting’s behalf.

In England, the annual parish meeting of a parish with a parish council must take place between 1 March and 1 June, both dates inclusive, and must take place no earlier than 6pm.
